Description
Aquilegia buergeriana var. oxysepala is a clump-forming perennial native to East Asia, known for its unusual flower shape and rich coloring. It grows 12–36″ tall and produces nodding blooms in late spring to early summer, with sharply pointed sepals in shades of reddish-purple and creamy yellow. The foliage is divided and green, emerging early and remaining attractive through the season. Preferring moist, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade, it adapts well to woodland edges, cottage gardens, and gravel beds. Hardy in Zones 5–9, it self-seeds modestly and adds a touch of wild elegance to naturalistic plantings.
