Description
Thalictrum rochebrunianum is an indispensable addition to any garden with finely divided, blue-green foliage reminiscent of Aquilegia and a notably open, upright habit. By midsummer to late summer, threadlike stems rise to six feet or more, bearing loose sprays of small lavender-purple flowers with prominent yellow stamens. The stems are flexible and will sway in the wind to resemble floating butterflies. At Spirithouse Gardens we grow it , making staking advisable in exposed sites. Best suited to moist, humus-rich soil in light shade, it adds vertical softness and late-season movement without crowding neighboring plants. Though visually delicate, it’s a reliable perennial once established, returning each year with quiet persistence.
