Paris quadrifolia, commonly known as herb Paris or true lover’s knot, is a perennial native to temperate woodlands across Europe and parts of Asia. Distinguished by its symmetrical whorl of four broad, ovate leaves and a solitary, star-like flower perched at the center, this species exudes an understated elegance. The flower, blooming in late spring to early summer, features slender greenish petals and a dark central berry that matures to a glossy black. Preferring moist, humus-rich soils and dappled light, P. quadrifolia thrives in undisturbed woodland habitats, where its slow-growing nature and subtle charm make it a treasured find for botanists and nature lovers alike. These seeds have immature embryos when shed so must remain hydrated to continue developing after harvest. Since seed is technically in the germination phase, they are available for only a few months after harvest and should be planted immediately upon receipt.
