Description
Lysimachia ephemerum is a cottage-style herbaceous perennial native to southern Europe, admired for its architectural grace. Emerging in spring, its narrow, lance-shaped leaves form upright rosettes blushed in red that lend a vertical rhythm to the garden. By early summer, tall, slender stems rise like spires, each topped with elegant racemes of starry white flowers delicately flushed with pale lavender, creating a luminous, ethereal effect. L. ephemerum thrives in full sun to light shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil, making it ideal for open borders, streamside plantings, or naturalistic schemes. It offers a dramatic seasonal display and pairs beautifully with phlox, aconitum, iris and other sun-loving perennials. Once established, it is surprisingly drought-tolerant and reliably returns each year, bringing a touch of wild refinement to the summer garden. This is a clumping variety that gently increases in size.
